The industrial style goes very well with the whole kitchen concept because it’s based on materials such as stainless steel iron rough wood etc. and these materials are often incorporated in the kitchen décor no matter what especially because of all the appliances. So industrial-style bar stools often feature simple designs with metallic structures and wooden seats sometimes being all-metal.
Another type is the counter-height stool which is the one we’re more interested in. These stools are smaller than the ones used in bars and restaurants and they’re the best for kitchen islands. They measure between 24” and 27” in height. Then there’s also the bar-height stool which is the same one you see in bars. These can be used for standard built-in bars and have a height of 28” to 33”. The fourth type is the extra tall stool which is somewhere between 33” and 36” tall. In its case the name pretty much speaks for itself.
Nothing blends in quite like acrylic and bar stools made this way are no exception. This adds a sleek contemporary almost commercial feel to the bar space. Even if the bar stool is the only color in the entire neutral space it can be enough to add fresh life and personality.
At the modern end of the spectrum a stool like this one from Worlds Away is a very stylish choice. The round brass stool has a white faux leather polyurethane upholstered seat which makes it very easy to clean. Stylish with a touch of steampunk this counter-height stool from Nick Alain is more like a piece of industrial art. The unique base has squared off legs topped off with a set of five shaped spindles that hold up the beveled metal seat.
The same shape of base with an upcycled metal seat makes for a rustic bar stool that would still be an appropriate addition to a modern space. The colored seats are perfect for mixing and matching. Round bar stools can take on a retro feel when they are outfitted with an old-fashioned seat foot rail and pedestal base. These were found at Finch in Hudson New York. The vintage look would fit well at a traditional style bar or at a rustic or modern kitchen counter.
You can’t go wrong with metal and wood. Whether your kitchen is a rustic beauty or an industrial haven these bar stools will bring it all your elements together perfectly.
